Biography

Brant Vogel

Born and Raised: Indiana

OverviewBrant Vogel’s back woods lifestyle and wild eye is what helped pave his road for his musical journey. Growing up in Chesterton, IN, he began teaching himself guitar and singing live at the age of 17. After finishing his degree at Purdue University, Brant moved west to start his life-long dream of fronting a country music band. Within a year, the music of Brant Vogel began spreading across the west coast as he and his band have been playing hundreds of clubs, drawing crowds and building fans. Brant and his band are currently playing the west coast country music circuit as well as following The Gaylord Rodeo Co. in California as their Rodeo Band, they recently opened up for Confederate Railroad in the summer of 2011, and have cur- rently been busy in the Nashville Sony Tree Studios, working on the new upcoming album with producer/singer/songwriter Mark Collie, Engineer Adam Engelhardt of Sony Tree Studios and representative Alex Bridge. The collaboration of Brant and Mark has produced some incredible pieces of music, especially the first single release, “Honky Tonky.” The music of Brant Vogel is a great, true portrayal of the honky tonkin’, good tim- ing, modern day mountain man that he is known as.

Current Projects: soon to update

Accomplishments: We have had a very busy 2016, opening up for David Allan Coe and performing many shows throughout Northwest Indiana.  We previously joined with The Gaylord Rodeo Company and have performed at multiple rodeos they have put on.  We also had the pleasure of opening up for Confederate Railroad on May 22nd up in Santa Ynez, CA.  I had the opportunity Co-write with Kostas (#1 Nashville Songwriter), Recorded with Spencer Starnes (3 time grammy winning producer) out of Austin, TX. Nominee for 5 awards at the Mavric Awards (Independent artist awards for Southern California on Oct. 21st ), Current airplay on 105.9 Krazy Country. Toured Western half of United States from Montana to South Texas out to California. Release of two albums, first the Self Titled Album “Brant Vogel,” and second the album "Honky Tonky."

Original Songs Played During Shows: Thank Hank, Outlaw Country Music, Chiquitas and Margaritas, Rosarito, Classic Country Song, Rowdy, Drinkin fighting and leaving, Indiana Moonshine, The Honky Tonker, Box Seats in Hell, Going Down To Mexico, Hand Me Another Bottle, Outlaw Lady, I know how to Party, Honky Tonk Wild Side, Tennessee, Country Song, Red White and Blue Collar Man, Steel Guitars Fast Women and Guns, That’s How We Roll, Country Love, Southern Belle, Bad Day to Quit Drinkin, and Living like Hell.

Biography: I was raised in Northern Indiana and I believe that is a great contribution to my character and love of Country Music. My influences growing up were Hank Williams Jr., Hank Williams Sr., Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, Johnny Cash, and George Jones. Each of these artists have such different styles in music and songwriting. This difference helped me in my dynamics of putting a story into a song. I learned how to play guitar at age 17 and taught myself how to sing from my guitar. Being self taught really helped me create a unique style and format in playing, singing, and songwriting. Throughout my college years at Purdue University I continued to develop my songwriting and singing skills and knew that this is what I truly wanted to do for the rest of my life. Following college, I started playing out live as a solo artist since it was difficult finding bands in Indiana that wanted to do country music only. I trekked it across route 66 to Los Angeles where I began my promoting and marketing to find a band that had the same influences and passion in Country Music as I did. We currently play the major country clubs between Denver, CO and Southern California and recently have started my recording career in Nashville, TN. Our drive and heart for what we play is our key to drawing our crowds and developing ourselves into a band that will continue to move forward to a national known and recognized act.

Business Plan for Music

BUSINESS PLAN

IDEAS FOR MUSIC

Brant Vogel

Introduction:

Dear Investors and parties of Interest,  I appreciate the opportunity to present this package to you.

My name is Brant Vogel and my music career began in 1995, in Indiana at the age of 17, when I realized I wanted to do nothing but play guitar and sing.  I currently live in Lake Hughes, CA and this is where my band is centrally located.  My band is comprised of seasoned players and we have been playing professionally in front of live audiences for over 10 years.

We continue on our music career with the goal of treating it as a profitable business with a reciprocal relationship with the label that signs us, touring the country, and making millions for all of our business partners.

My self-motivation, business sense, and passion in music will help facilitate the success of promoting and marketing us along with the skill, talent and resources of a successful label.  With many years cutting our teeth in the music industry, creating two albums, playing hundreds of shows across America, along with multiple radio contacts and events, venue promotion contacts, sponsorships, etc., we have a proven track record of leveraging our passion for music and knowledge of business to build a successful brand.

Support from a successful record label, management and agent will enable us to is tour nationally and internationally for more exposure, have national air play, and allow bookings for television and radio interviews.  We have already proven that we can do this on our own with limited success, but with a label helping us, we can we can really press forward to accomplish some of the unique goals which we think will set us apart from other artists (see below).

With the execution of this business plan, our relationship will be successful and very profitable. With the production and sale of our current CD or CD we create together, a national tour, a reality TV show, along with many other promotion and marketing ideas (see below), an ROI will be realized with minimal expense on your part.  The day job that I wish to shortly leave has been with one of the top 2 Financial Services Firms in the country for the past 13 years, so I understand what makes a quality investment, with little cost and plenty of profit potential.

My love of music and business sense will be the driving force for future success.   I have a 5-piece band (Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Fiddle, Lap Steel, Bass, Drums, 2 back up Drummers, 2 back up Bass Players, and 1 back up lead Guitar with full set knowledge) ready to go on the road with previous tour experience.  Besides my main line up, I also have CDL drivers who can also act as road crew, a sound-man who is the instructor at Pinnacle College of Engineering and Mastering, as well as an entire trusted crew for lengthy tours.  I am ready to represent you!

After you review this business plan and press kit, I look forward to speaking with you about the next step, and a successful future working together.

Marketing Plan:  (The Marketing plan has great potential of being fully executed with the help of a label offering their professional services, national airplay, sponsorship connections and tour support)

My target market is County Music fans, Honky Tonk Addicts, Rodeo Fans, The Military, and outdoor enthusiasts.

I have immediate radio contacts doing radio and promotion support in California, Texas and Indiana, with venue promotions throughout California, Austin, TX, Northern Indiana and Nashville, TN.

Krazy Country 105.9, Santa Barbara to Santa Maria; Tyler Storey, program manager, currently promotes many music events with major label acts between Santa Barbara and Santa Maria.  We will be the first on his mind for events and he is also a friend.  He currently plays my music on a daily rotation but once our exposure is increased, it will allow us to be the main act at many of his events. This can help us get major exposure in the market of Rodeo, Vineyards and Casinos.

100.5 Country Radio, Kokomo, IN:  Live radio interview and concert promotion during the “Annual Vietnam Veterans Event.”  This annual event can be very profitable for us through retail sales and promotion of our music.   My exposure to this event has only been on a small level playing for the National Combat Vets Motorcycle Group.  I have had successful radio interviews at 100.5 but consistent radio play is determined by national exposure on radio charts. This event is held every September, and is the largest annual Vietnam Veteran Reunion in the county, and by far the best, drawing over 10,000 attendees during the three-day gathering supporting our Vietnam veterans and veterans of other wars.  With the help of a label and national exposure, I believe my personal contacts with this event will allow us to put on a full concert, signings, sales and a booth promoting my music and showing our support for the cause

Indiana 105.5 has played my songs on “Fresh Crop”  I have also been given the opportunity to do live on-air interviews.  Mike “The Mullet Man” Summers is my direct contact. This is a Chicago-land Regional radio station in my hometown of Chesterton/Valparaiso, IN.  This market is very important for our successful growth since the Chicago region is very large, offers a lot of exposure, and holds many large music events every year.   Mike has personally told me his ability to play my music is limited if I am not on the “Music Row” charts or “Billboard” charts.  His station is managed that way and my exposure has been limited to “Fresh Crop,” which is an up and coming and song and artist show.  With a label backing me, national airplay, etc… my exposure there will be daily through my current fan requests and consistent radio station airplay

“Airplay direct,” a radio/DJ promotion company, was brought to my attention through my connection with Brent Harvey of HMMA (Hollywood in Media and Music Awards).  This is an inexpensive radio/DJ promotion site, and with little cost, our music can be distributed internationally.   Mark Chestnut, Dolly Parton, etc., are currently taking advantage of this company.  Brent Harvey indicated that he could help us take advantage of this site beyond the regular regional artist as we begin our national push to radio and DJ’s.

Jeff Kehoe has already discussed Texas promotion with me and will be able to have me entertain on ACL (Austin City Limits), an American public television music program, recorded live in Austin, Texas by PBS, and broadcast on many PBS stations around the US. The show helped Austin to become widely known as the "Live Music Capital of the World”. Radio promotion and tour in Texas will be critical for our success with Austin City Limits.   (Jeff is Managing Producer of Austin City Limits and SXSW).  The representation of a label will facilitate our getting picked up at ACL and greatly increase brand recognition.

Rose Melilo (Taps and Tapas in Nashville, and Club owner in Austin for SXSW).  I have entertained at her venue in Nashville, and she will be a promoter and venue for us for the annual SXSW event. SXSW stands for South by Southwest, a music festival, film and interactive conference that takes place every spring in Austin, Texas.

Promotional Ideas and Existing Opportunities Actively Being Persued

Tyler Storey: (Phone Referral 805-245-5340) Radio and Promotion Support in California from Program Manager Tyler Storey of Krazy Country 105.9, Santa Barbara to Santa Maria.  He will be a major promoter and supporter for all venues and events that will be suitable throughout coastal California and his radio contacts will be directly linked to promotion.  He is already spinning us on a daily rotation as a regional artist, but as soon as I have national radio support it will change by shows in that region to a headliner instead of an opening act for major artists.

Ariat Boot CompanyAirborne Cowboy is one of the songs on my latest album.  It’s a favorite among the under eighteen age demographic I believe it will be a rodeo hit for younger crowds and has a great dance beat for line dancing.  Airborne Cowboy is a previously released song of Chris Ledoux, written by Kostas and Shawn Kemp.  A family friend of mine is a regional sales director for Ariat Boot Company, and they are beginning to sponsor major music acts.  As soon as I have national airplay, it’s just a matter of an easy introduction toward sponsorship with them.

Jimmy KimmelCleto and The Cletones, of The Jimmy Kimmel Band, are personal friends of mine, and they look forward to when I will be a guest and entertainer on the show. To be on Jimmy Kimmel you need to have a record deal.  My years of bartending with Wolfgang Puck have built a strong Hollywood-based following, so the crowd will be substantial when we make it on the show.  All we need is a label behind us and we are ready to take advantage of these existing connections to grow our brand.

Harley Davidson:  Harley Davidson will be our major target for the song  “Blue Tattoo,” which is one of our popular new songs.  Some of the retail items that we have come up with entail temporary tattoos, bumper stickers, T-shirts, and Harley vouchers when you buy certain items from our retail line. After setting up a line of retail products, (such as what I mentioned above), pitching our partnership idea to them, along with a booth in stores for retail sales, we will be right on target to market our brand in a specific zone or near a tour to a specific city.

My father is the president of the Indiana chapter of The Combat Vets motorcycle group. The idea is to support Harley Davidson as they support us with events, such as poker runs, veterans parades, Daytona Bike Fest, Sturgis, etc, in turn they will help market us for upcoming local shows with the target of sponsorship. The retail sales on Blue Tattoo at both festivals have a large financial potential due to strong target market of “Outlaw Country” fans being faithful and passionate Harley Davidson owners.

American Legion/VFW: My family is heavily involved in the American Legion and VFW. I myself am a son of a Legion Member.  Our family friend is the Vice Commander of Indiana’s American Legion and is currently promoting my “Legion Hall” song at all Legion Halls across Indiana.  This song was recently exposed to the Veterans Affairs national convention in Washington D.C. and received great support.  We have played multiple American Legions in California, Texas, and Indiana, and intend to expand to play more in an effort to expand our exposure and support of the military families and veterans.

Reality TV:  This area of my entertainment plan is an extremely inexpensive marketing and promotion channel, and the Pilot is already in filming production. This is a songwriting, song production, video production reality show based solely on Brant Vogel.  We will be integrating songwriting and music with adventure.  A reality TV show will cause record sales to soar, and the profit margin of record sales relative to the cost of marketing will be well above the norm. My fan base will increase dramatically from people seeing my face, absorbing my persona, and hearing my music both nationally and internationally.

Concepts:

The Adventures of a Country Song

(Presently in Pilot development.)

Full production will commence immediately after solidifying a relationship with a formal label.  They already committed to me being the lead character in the show.  Jeff Kuebler, the producer, has followed my music, my songwriting, my outdoor filming and adventure and believes in the concept around my life.

Premise: The creation of a country song and all the adventures endured to write and create the song, production and video.  At the end of each episode we will have the adventure of a song, the production and the music video.  The record label will be involved in all aspects of the music.

Grillin’ The Game

(In Pilot production.)

Premise: Hunt, Fish, Shoot, exotic and gourmet Wildlife Cooking(First episode is from Tejon Ranch pig hunt).  This will begin in 2014, as a Memorial Day Pig Fest, in support of soldiers and the conservancy of Tejon Ranch. This show concept will benefit a label from my exposure to the public and potential retail sales based on the show.  My music will be influenced throughout the show and the show will come at now cost to the record label.  Sponsors and private equity fund the show and all I will see is benefit from exposure.

Tour Ideas:

The Dive Bar Tour:” Every major city in this country has a “dive bar” contest to see what the top ten dive bars are for each city.  I have created a song called “The Dive Bar”, and we will use it to promote a national dive bar tour. This would be a great grassroots build and promotion.  It will be a “fan-intimate” tour, and we plan to start this tour at Orange County, CA’s #1 dive bar, “Knuckleheads Sports Bar & Grill,” where we shot our video “Honky Tonky” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qjORpkhSQHA).

We have incredible support from the owner, Brick Bailey. Brick is excited about this idea and we are pursuing other dive bars so we can coordinate a schedule and promote it.

Bass Tour Tour:  Bass Buzz Radio owner, Pat Renwick, is a fan and supporter of my music ever since I did a radio show with him in January 2013.  My fishing-tailored songs caused him to request us to entertain in the Bro Pass Tours throughout the Midwest at the end of 2013.  He not only promotes, but also is involved with the Pro-Circuit, and will be our direct liaison for this promotion.  We need Radio and Tour support to make this happen.  Between fishing tournaments we can be engaged in our dive bar tour, killing two birds with one stone, but we need a little financial help so we can use the next few months to coordinate our schedule so we can double dip the travel expenses. Without support from a label, we’ll have to defer this tour to 2014, causing us to loose some of our already built-up potential.

The following will be based on a sponsorship from Bass Pro Shops, which can possibly be accomplished, by my connections and the help of a record label.  Sponsorship funds and promotion will be beneficial for all parties.  Bass Pro Shop meet and greet and radio promo, tied in with Grillin’ The Game, (First episode is from Tejon Ranch pig hunt), 2014 Memorial Day Pig Fest, in support of soldiers and the conservancy of Tejon Ranch, which will also tie-in with the Bass Pro Tours. Bass Pro Shop has More than 238 million catalogs and sales flyers are mailed annually, and there are more than 86 million website visitors each year, and this audience is a fan base that cannot be passed up. These people will fans for life if I do a meet and greet at Bass Pro in the town in which I play a show.  The children, who will be my purchasing audience, will have an intimate moment with me signing autographs, buying CD’s and other retail merchandise.  I know this little touch of socializing will separate me from the majority of all artists.

Rodeo Circuit:  From my experience following rodeo companies and being the headlining act for six years at The Elks Club Rodeo in Santa Maria, I am certain success will be derived from digging a deep position in the fan base of the rodeo crowd.  Chris Ledoux on his Trilogy Album also released “Airborne Cowboy,” a Kostas song, which is on my album.

The Rugby Band: I have been a rugby player for thirteen years, my family has been involved in rugby for over forty years, and my name has a great presence in the sport.  International Rugby events are stadium filled events with the potential of acquiring many fans through immediate live exposure.  There are multiple events held in the US every year in which 10,000 plus fans attend.

The objective will be to write and produce a rugby song, or song with rugby innuendoes, in order to draw attention to that crowd.  Being known as “the rowdy rugby band” will leave us with an extremely loyal fan base. Every city we play at, we hire the local rugby team as security and give back a donation to that individual club.  Remember this, rugby player’s will always support and back rugby players.  It is a family, and if we pitch this right, it will be an INTERNATIONAL success and extremely profitable for you as the record label and myself as the artist.

Kokomo Veterans Event: An annual event is held in Kokomo, IN, in which over 10,000 veterans attend.  This event has the potential of a great annual concert for the benefit of veterans, and will also be beneficial in retail sales and radio promotion.  My connections with the event through my immediate family will help facilitate a concert in which I would headline to give a main night event.  There are small bands that play this event annually but it is set up to have the potential of a major artist show.

Conclusion:

Again, we are business minded passionate artists, and not star-crazy kids with an immature concept of what it takes to make it in this business. With your support, we can grow this business much faster and capitalize on our abundance of potential. Any assistance you have provided by your existing channels will further fast track us both to greater success.  Although we have a clear plan for future growth and exposure, we are happy to cooperate with ideas and programs that you determine may be more successful and/or which better use your existing channels.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to a closer business relationship and friendship with you.
